RESTAURANT REVIEW: COSTES – RESTAURANT / BUDAPEST

This August I visited Budapest again after 4 years. Definitely it brings me some memories, but it’s amazing any time. I always discover something new about Budapest and about the things that it has to offer.

So, this time it was nothing different from my last visit. I was searching for a place where I can eat well and where the ambient is warm and welcoming. I found all that and much more in Costes restaurant.

THE RESTAURANT

WHAT DID I TAKE?

The restaurant is an intimate cozy atmosphere, very colorful and does not hold a lot of tables.

Is there any better start than with a glass of campaign?

My suggestion is to go with a 4 course menu, it’s enough and you won’t be hungry after taking it.Β  With 4 course menu you got 3 dishes and dessert.

Our choice was:

COLD STARTERS
1. SMOKED SZENTGYORGYVAR STUGERON (“Tejfol”, Hungarian osetra caviar, potato, leek)

2. DUCK LIVER FROM THE KUNSAG REGION (marinated in Tokaji wine, cucumber, granny simple apple, homemade brioche)

FISH AND PRE-MAIN COURSES

  1. LILLAFRUNED TROUT (Hungarian green split pea dish – fozelek, green beans, caviar, savory)
  2. BALATON (LELLE) PIKE (summer truffle, wild mushrooms, sabayon, spring onion)

The pictures are so perfect. I loved the small surprises you kept getting between the 4 courses and I loved the dessert too. I would love to find some interesting vegan restaurant in Budapest and have a fine dining experience there.

I am not a fan of fine dining, except on special occasions (I prefer street food any day!). However, on occasions, it’s always tough to pick one place and Costes Restaurant sounds like one of those places I’d want to dine at on a birthday or anniversary. The food is presented really well and what catches my eye is the dessert – Somloi Galuska. Also, the little surprises along the meal sound really great!

I cannot help but drool at those pictures. And that dessert looks exquisite. I kind of like those main-course plates too. So different, minimal, and classy. I am surely going here when I visit Budapest.

Holy Smokes! What a restaurant. My father is Hungarian and I have been to Hungary a few times. The first 27 years ago! I love Hungarian food, but my favourites have always been β€œβ€˜peasant” type dishes. These dishes are so gorgeous and sophisticated and yet, they all have Hungarian traditions. Amazing. I will have to try this on my next trip.

What a fancy meal! I love eating tasting menus since you can try a little bit of everything. The desserts at this place look delicious. Love how they are bite size. I’ll add Costes Restaurant to the list when I visit Budapest.
