On my Bucket list there was also one of the goals to visit the famous – Carnival of Venice, Italy.

I was there twice. First time during the carnival in 2014 and second time in 2016.

Every time when you are there, you feel it in another way, because every time it has his own special story.

During my first visit the weather was typical for Venice – it was rainy all day and there wasn’t a lot of people on the streets.

During my second visit to it, it was totally opposite – it was nice and sunny day.

What to see in Venice?

See the major things is always a basic recommendation. Standing in the middle of the magnificent piazza San Marco is an experience for itself. Take a walk around Basilica San Marco, it’s in front of you while you’re standing at piazza San Marco.

One of the most popular things, and the first thing you get on your mind when you think of Venice is famous – gondola ride. Trip to Venice is not complete without a punt down one of the city’s picturesque waterways in an gondola. It’s special experience for itself, also you can get your own man (gondola driver) who will sing only for you 🙂

P.S. Be prepared, they also charge you when they sing for you 😉

Why Venice during a carnival?

Slip on that mask and join the Carnival 🙂

Carnival – the world’s largest and most famous masked party, came into 18th century.

Beside that one in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, this one in Venice holds second place.

On these days you can see masked people all around the city and at every corner, you can take a picture of or with them 🙂

In this time of the year Venice is too crowded, especially those few days during the Carnival.

If you don’t like too crowded places and instead of that you want to breathe a city for yourself – then go in some other time. Travel Optician also doesn’t like when the places are too crowded, but Carnival in Venice is really something special and it’s worth of it.

I hope this will inspire you to visit the famous Venice Carnival – I would like to hear your story how it was – write to me about that!

Here is my mask gallery that I want to share with you 🙂
